Welcome to the new Thuum.org! The latest update is the largest in site's history, with hundreds of pages of new dictionary content, a new Translator tool, and much more. This update represents months of work that we're excited to finally bring to you. There's a lot to take in, so check out all the new features and changes below.
Dictionary
Our dragon language dictionary has been overhauled with brand new entries featuring the 640+ words of the official language. These entries are more detailed than ever, including pronunciations, connotations, and usage examples compiled from the game and the official game guide. Dive into one of the new dictionary entries or see the updated About page for a complete breakdown of the new entry format.
If you're a translator who has helped provide international translations for the previous dictionary, stay tuned. The new dictionary, Search, and Translator tools have been specifically built to support international languages. We'll be testing the waters with the English dictionary first, so once the dust has settled we'll have an update to let you know when the international versions are ready.
Translator
With the dictionary update, the Translator has been completely retooled to accommodate the new entries. Each word comes with a list of possible translations, including detailed notes to help you decide which translation fits best. When any kind of suffix or special grammar is involved, you'll also receive links to relevant parts of the lessons so you can learn alongside the Translator or double-check what you know. On top of that, the new Translator is also capable of translating complex compound words and whole phrases in either dragon or English.
The English-Dragon side of the Translator is powered by the entries listed in the English-Dragon portion of the dictionary. There will be a number of missing translations at first, but with your help in providing new translations for phrases and synonyms, the Translator will become more complete over time.
Search
The Search tool has also been updated and streamlined. New search options allow you to search for words that begin or end with certain letters, perfect for looking up words that rhyme or are otherwise similar.
Learn
The Learn pages have been extensively revised to support the new dictionary. If you haven't read the lessons yet, we encourage you to take a look. If you already have, there are new sections and exercises to try out. New features include:
Legacy Dictionary
The old dictionary, Translator, and Search pages can now be found under the Legacy Dictionary section. From this point forward, the legacy dictionary will no longer be maintained or supported. As such, previous site features such as word submission and international translation submission are no longer available. The legacy dictionary will not be part of any future site content, including lessons, games, or contests. We strongly encourage everyone to follow the new dictionary, but if you wish to continue using the legacy dictionary, it is still available to you.
Other Updates & Fixes
Below are some additional changes or fixes part of this update:
- Updated header, background, and news article layout.
- Cleaned up navigation and moved “Library” under the “Learn” section.
- Library items now have a “Legacy” label if they make use of the legacy dictionary.
- Usernames can now be changed from the Edit Profile page. You are able to change your username once in a 30 day period.
- A new Privacy Policy has been added to the signup page and footer. The site hasn't changed how it handles user information, but this is mainly for technical reasons and to stay transparent with those of you who are site members.
- Fixed an issue where mobile forum posts would bleed outside the forum layout.
- Fixed mobile forum post formatting and line break problems.
- Fixed dragon runes in the forums to work the same as in Conversations. Posts with runes will now be easier to write and edit.
