Site Update January 14, 2014

One Year Anniversary

January 14, 2014

We celebrate being one year old today! Last year, we launched with the goal of taking the Dragon Language of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and making it into a fully developed and fluent language. Since then, the dictionary has grown to over 3,500+ words. Below are some cool new things to help us celebrate!

Thuum.org/learn/

Away with the old and in with the new! Thuum.org/learn/ is your new destination for learning the Dragon Language. Over the summer I created Learning Dovahzul, a PDF based on the existing lessons. I was really satisfied with the results but the lessons on the site remained as they always were – let's say "dense". Thuum.org/learn/ takes all of the great content in Learning Dovahzul and creates a place for you to brush up on the Dragon Language in a new and hopefully exciting way.

For the moment, the site covers Section I – Grammar. Other sections will be added in the future. The lessons feature tons of new information, corrections of some outdated information, and an easier to follow format. A lot of the concepts have been refined and simplified, especially verbs and tense, to make learning Dovahzul easier and more fun than ever!

The Labyrinth

What can you do once you’ve learned Dovahzul? Play The Labyrinth, an immersive Skyrim-based text adventure game that uses Dovahzul commands! Navigate the deepest chambers of Labyrinthian using swords, spells, and Shouts to defeat the evil Dragon Priest Bahlok and his servants. If you have an account on the site, you can also save or load a game in progress. Only the most stalwart of heroes will pass this trial – can you?

Even if you’re new to Dovahzul or have never heard of it before, give The Labyrinth a go! Use “UTH” at any time to get a list of commands. By the end you may find yourself already beginning to memorize a few words. May your sword arm stay strong!

Dovahzul Dictionary App for Android

If you have an Android device and haven’t heard of the Dovahzul Dictionary App yet, do yourself a favor and check it out! The app was written by community member Arngeir. It’s simple, easy to use, and a great way to have Thuum.org’s lexicon on the go. It runs on local files so there’s no need for an internet connection. You can update those files at any time to get the latest set of words.

Thanks for reading and thanks for being with us! Lok, Thu'um.

Paarthunax: You just grabbed a language from a game with a couple of words, pretty unused and unknown and you made a site that became quite famous, with a big active comunity. You made this language what it is today and we are all so thankfull to you :D

We all own you a big Thank You. Congratulations on what you achieved. Also, this would never be possible without the community, all the translators, moderators, and pretty much everyone here that uploaded a single word. So...

Thanks you Paarthurnax, thanks to every moderator and translator and thank you to everyone in this big community.

Let's keep growing!

This is quite amazing... A full text adventure and everything. I just wanted to drop by and give my appreciation to the hard work and dedication you have to this site. The new /learn is greatly appreciated, as I am still learning, and the text adventure sounds really cool. I'll have to be sure to sharpen my dedication to learning so I can get on the forums and on the text adventure. Cheers

man this is an amazing community and I'm glad that we have finally reached one year and that we have achieved what we have, I'm proud to be a part of this. I was wondering though, since I have an iPhone, when or if there will be an iPhone app as well.
