March 11, 2016
Part listening exercise and part audio drama, The Jarl’s Word is a new series that will transport you to First Era Skyrim, where Snow Elves still stalk the woods and the dragon language is the language of the law. You are the newly appointed scribe of the High King, and must record his commands for all of Skyrim to hear. Grab some pen and paper and listen at your own pace. Share an image of your transcription in the comments below, and the Jarl will award you 30 gold, or 45 gold for transcriptions written in runes. For additional practice, you can also try translating his commands. Listen to The Jarl’s Word Episode 1 - Introductions The Jarl’s Word is something new we’re trying out, and as always we would appreciate your feedback! If you enjoy it, we hope to produce more episodes in the future. If you like listening exercises but would prefer them in a different format, we’ll consider that as well. For now, thanks for listening and best of luck! |

I'm rather excited for this! Maybe as a challenge you could have a version in Dovahzul and ask for a translation to English. |

I find this a great way for those learning to have an excerise familiar to one you can't find in everyday. Such as learning a new laguage in a school classroom, having situations such as this recording requiring you to practice is a wonderful idea! Much appreciated and looking forward to more in the future! |

I do not think this is the right challenge fo me. I will try maybe next week. For now I will stick to practicing the words and hang off the runes for a while. |

Love it! As I am currently still learning the vocabulary of the language, I think I will give this a shot: not too hard, as it IS a first in the 'series' (that is, if you decide to continue it). Not only is it good for listening and comprehension practice (such as discerning when a word stops and another begins), but writing practice for those who wish to write in runes. |

Not quite for me. I haven't really advanced enough into the language.

I love this, it really helps with my learning, having to try and discern words by listening, as opposed to seeing them written down. It's exactly what I was looking for to improve my fluency in Dovahzul. |

I wanted to try this but I am still a little confused actually about what I am supposed to write. Am I supposed to write what the Jarl says in Dovahzul? Or am I supposed to translate it to Common Tamriellic as he says it? And for the runes part, am I supposed to write the Dovahzul in the runes? Or do I write the Tamriellic in runes after I've translated it from Dovahzul? |

Dezonikso Your task is to write the Dovahzul that the Jarl says, either in runes or not in runes depending on what you're comfortable with. You can try translating it for extra practice but translating isn't necessarily part of this challenge. |

Alright. Then that seems like a simple enough task. Thank you for clarifying. |

Sounds cool and like a nice idea but I don't think I have learned enough to do it very well. |

I would like to do this, however the server refuses to run the audio video watever, i guess it's because i'm using a school chromebook to do this. |

This is nice.~ I might still be learning, but I'll give it a shot. Might have to refresh the page a few times to get what he says fully, but hey.
EDIT: So...I realized that I didn't have to write down everything that was being said...now I just need to find out which words he's using. |
