Regarding 'Dovahkiin'

I found this weirdness on /r/skyrimconspiracies, and I was wondering if it had any merrit. Should we be calling Dragons only Dov instead of Dovah? or is this completely nuts?

Ah is to Dovah as "pet" is to "carpet."

As stated in the thread, Dov means "dragonkind," referring to the race of dragons as a whole. There is also legitimacy to the double-meaning of Dovahkiin as "Dov-Ah-Kiin."

However, that doesn't have any effect on the word Dovah itself. Dovah is explicitly stated and used to mean "dragon" as in a singular dragon. "Ah" just happens to be a very common sound in the dragon language and a large number of words make use of it.

The top commenter's statement that Paarthurnax only refers to you as dovah and himself and other dragons as dov is also incorrect. Here are some links to dialogue where dovah is used in reference to a dragon and not the Dragonborn:

I hope this clears things up!
