Zu'u / Thu'um pronunciation

I was listening to the sounds of Lesson 1 to work on how well I pronounce my words in dragon, when I heard Thu'um pronounced thooum without the pause. The reason this caught my attention was because just a bit ago I had been playing the game, when I used the clear skies shout in front of a gaurd, who said to me "The power of the Thu'um!" or something along those lines. But when he said Thu'um, he put the space between the two bits of the word.

I encountered this again in my fight with Alduin. I noticed him saying "Zu'u..." a few times, where he put the space between the two bits of the word. On the lesson however, exersize 2 pronounces Zu'u without the pause.

Which one of these is the more correct and proper way to pronounce these words?

I've heard it pronounced both ways, so it could be either personal preference or perhaps different accents of dovahzul, a topic we've discussed quite extensively in the past.

Good question!  Pronunciation of "u'u" varies quite a bit.  I'll post a few videos demonstrating them below:

In most cases it's something similar to "oo" or "oou".  Alduin usually pronounces it with a space.  Which way is more "correct" is uncertain, but the pronunciation without the space is heard more often, and it's easier to use.

Just use the space it's correct and sounds better

According to Section 2: Grammer > Alphabet & Pronounciation > Excersises:

"Su'um ahrk morah [pronounciation can be written as] 'Sue-um ark more-ah'. You could also write out su'um as 'soo-oom' or 'soom'."
