The genitive and double genitiveI stumbled upon this site a couple of days ago, and was immediatly overcome by a sense of wonder and joy. I went on to read your grammar book, and in section discussing the genitive, there was an example of an unpreffered construction of a double genitive, more specifically "my father's" , where the genitive morpheme -ro was stacked upon the possessive morpheme -i (my) as -i-ro. My question, then, is two-fold. 1.) Is the genitive marker -ro/-dro a case marker or a phrase clitic, and 2.)Where are the possessive morphemes -i, -i/-o, -ii, etc. applied, before or after other modifying suffixes? Category: Grammar |
