Phrasal verbs

How are English phrasal verbs translated to Dovahzul? For example, "show off" and "give up". Taken literally word for word, these would be "genun vau" and "ofan vok". Is this the right way?

Great question, Freymulaar, and there isn't a set in stone answer. I'm inclined to say this would be incorrect, and that the language would have its own unique phrasal verbs. The problem is we haven't come up with them yet.

A solution would be to find single verbs that can replace the phrases. For example, instead of "give up," you'd say "yield" or "surrender." Instead of saying "show off," you'd say "display" or simply "show."

That's how I do it, as there's no actual translation given to phrasal verbs.
