I haven't tried a sound-oriented way yet, that seems interesting.  I learned the alphabet by copying down Word Walls from the game and translating them.  After a few, I had the alphabet down except for a couple of the rarer letters.  Practicing writing helped a ton for me, too.

I made flash cards (index cards work great!) and I've been flicking through them every 5 or 10 minutes. Little and often!

What i do is write the alphabet in runes on a piece of paper then i read it then i try to memorize what i can write that down on an other one and see if i forgot a letter if i forgot one i know what i have to learn next

I just look for stuff in-game/on this site and use a chart with the letters to figure it out. I'm bound to get it eventually.
