Which syllable is emphasis placed on?

I've read through all the lessons and didn't see anything about which syllable receives stress in polysyllabic words. Are there no real rules, like English? Is it always on the penultimate vowel, like Esperanto? Or is it a convoluted yet systematic rule, like Quenya?

Great question! I'll have to listen to the dialogue some more, but from what I can tell it is somewhat consistent:

  • 2 syllables - stress on the second syllable. Examples:
    • Alok
    • Dilon
    • Fahdon
    • Fundein
    • Keizaal
    • Kodaav
    • Sosaal
  • 2 syllables - stress on the first syllable (less common). Examples:
    • Dovah
    • Faasnu
    • Krosis
    • Strunmah
  • 3 syllables - stress on the first syllable. Most evident in dragon names. Examples:
    • Dovahkiin
    • Nivahrin
    • Rotmulaag
    • Paarthurnax
    • Odahviing
    • Alduin
    • Taazokaan
  • 3 syllables - stress on second syllable (less common). Examples:
    • Hevnoraak
    • Qahnaarin

There aren't any known rules yet, but most of the time 2-syllable words are stressed on the second syllable and 3-syllable words are stressed on the first.
