Hey people :) I'm lionrt60 and I'm a massive gamer and language enthusiast as it seems everyone else here is ^^ I'd like to think that i'm somewhat creative and when I set out to do something  it gets done, however long it takes. Anyway, at the moment I'm going to be doing a playthrough of skyrim and translate any dovahzul I can find. Hopefully if there are any canonical words that haven't been found, I'll get 'em xD

At any rate I love The Elder Scrolls series and I want to help build upon this dictionary and meet some people ^^

Hey guys! I'm Chevvy and I'm from Germany.
I registered here because when I first saw and heard the dragon language while playing Skyrim I knew I wanted to learn it and make something cool with it.

I'm studying Communication Design and I'm doing my bachelor thesis now in Skyrim's Dragon Language. Currently all I do is research about the language itself and everything that has to do with it, means: searching for other constructed languages like Quenya, Sindarin, Klingon ect.and take a look at them and the grammer. Also other languages from Elder Scrolls (Dwarven, Daedra, Falmer ect.), similarities to real languages and scripts (e.g. cuneiform), dragons in general (in Skyrim and myths like Siegfried the dragon slayer) etc.)
All I've done yet is: I made a mind map with everything that came up my mind.

My plan is to make books about the language at the end – one that explains the dragon language, a work book to pratice learning & writing and a dictionary.
Well that is the plan – my prof said I should do a big research on everything first that has to do with the language because maybe I'll find some other points more interesting than making a book of how to learn the language. But I'm 90% sure it will turn out beeing this!

I'm glad I found the site and it's nice to see there are other people concentrating on learning/writing that language. Hope I'll find some help here for my bachelor thesis then :D

well that's it for my first post here
greetings,

Chevvy

Sprechen Sie Deutsch? (Ich kann ein bisschen sprechen)

I'm very excited to hear about your thesis project, and I'd love to hear more about it!  You should start a thread in the Dragon Language Discussion forum so we can all follow along.  We'd all be glad to help you in any way we can!

Oh great idea I'm going to do this as soon as I manage to write it all out in English so you can understand what I'm doing :3
Thanks for the welcome!

DREM YOL LOK

Im new here

im still in school, but i play skyrim for a couple of mouths now and i asked myself: hey is there any more word walls i dont now?

looked on the wiki and i couldnt belive when i saw that there was a whole translation to every word wall, and then skyrim creators created their own lenguage for a game.

conclusion? I WANNA LEARN IT

So i found thuum.org and im amazed with the king community, the cool staff and content of the site:

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE STAFF

also, i love the ideia a lenguage that few people in the word know and that is writen with runes(?)

oh and im thinking that i could, maybe, one day in the future, create some tutorials to help others learn, but i cant do that without learning it myself, so...

wich me luck :D

Hellooo everyone, I'm Alduin, I'm a massive Elder Scrolls nut, most people read books to get themselves to sleep at night, I always find myself reading up on Elder Scrolls lore, I can pretty much name all the Emperors and Empresses in order of their rein haha I'm 19 and live in London, UK and playing Morrowind when I was younger made me want to practice Archery, so I did that for three years at a club and got pretty good at it if I do say so myself. I'm hoping to get to talk to you all some more in the following months, you all seem pretty cool :)

Myufi
April 23, 2013

Heh, I guess I've been lurking around this website for a while, but I suppose I should introduce myself more formally anyway.

Ahnok! I'm Myufi, stationed in northwest America and wishing it was colder. I regular in a high school defined by tech nerds, so I got Skyrim because people were raging everywhere over it. I only played Oblivion for a few hours at a friend's house within a few months before.

I LOVE dragons. Love 'em. Favorite animal. Even though I don't really like roleplay games. Skyrim is very immersive, though, so it's all well and good.

I picked up Dovahzul after me and a friend were messing with coded alphabets, and I went and looked up the lyrics to Dragonborn a few times on the Skyrim wiki. For a couple of weeks I poked at it, picking up some of the canon words and trying to learn the language off of wiki pages and my own tweaks to the dialect. It was after a week or two that I found thuum.org, but now that I'm here, I'm really enjoying myself.

I hope to contribute to the website for a long time, and eventually become fluent in the language on my own time. I have little experimental experience with conlangs, not knowing they existed elsewhere, and I've always been interested in linguistics on a personal level. I don't know any languages aside from English, but I have understanding that English is a mess of a language and other languages have a lot of interesting quirks that English doesn't. I have poked at Japanese, German, Spanish and Russian, though influent. I have longed to learn German for a long time.

I really enjoy being here, working with paarthurnax and the other users in developing this enjoyable language. There is a lot of potential and enjoyment in Dovahzul, and I'm excited to see where this leads!

 Drem Yol Lok, fellows.

I´ve been lurking around for a while now and thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself.

my name is mimameid and I am a student of philosophy and german language studies with specialisation on Indoeuropean languages thus I´m interested in any kind of language, fictional and non-fictional. I hope that I am able to contribute with my knowledge about lingusitics and language history. Recently, I learned a few things about the languages in the Tolkien universe such as Khuzdul and the Elvish Language and thanks to Chevvy I also started playing Skyrim a couple of week ago. Yes, I know, I´m kinda late to the fandom and everything but well - better late than never and also thanks to her, I´m growing more and more fond of the Dragon Language.

I still have trouble with understanding the language as it is but I really love the writing system, font whatever it is called. Its so similar to cuneiform since it obviously is some kind of cuneiform itself, haha

Anyways, long story short - I hope to pick up some things on the Dragon Language since I seem to be totally lost in this game, I love it and I hate it and I dont even know.

Let´s all hope I can master the language myself one day.
