Game Preview: White Sox vs. Red Sox (Part Two)

After taking two of three last weekend at home, your Chicago White Sox are now heading to Boston for round two with the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Things haven’t been going smoothly for the Pale Hose as they’ve dropped four consecutive games, including a brutal three-game sweep at the hands of the lowly Athletics. Since their dominant 11-1 win over the Sox last Friday, Chicago has managed just eight runs across the next five games. Doing the math, that averages out to about 1.5 runs per game — a recipe for disaster in any lineup. When your best hitters are struggling with sub-.100 averages, runs are going to be a rare commodity.

Here’s a look at tonight’s expected starters:

Martín Pérez, who has been a pleasant surprise for the White Sox this season, takes the mound with a 1.59 ERA, having struck out 18 batters over 17 innings and sporting a 1-0 record.

On the other side, Hunter Dobbins gets the nod for the Red Sox. This will be just his second major league start. In his debut on April 6, he allowed two earned runs on eight hits over five innings, fanning five in the process.

Now, here’s how the visiting Sox will line up for tonight's game:

I won’t pretend to make sense of Venable’s decisions tonight — let’s just say the lineup is often... unpredictable. At this point, anything goes.

For the Red Sox, they’ll be rocking their bold yellow City Connect jerseys, inspired by the Boston Marathon (eye-searingly bright, but hey, it’s Fenway).

Game Time: 6:10 PM CT
Broadcast Info: As usual, tune in for all the action.

We'll have a full recap after the game. Hopefully, we’ll have something better to report than another tough loss!
