Dovahzul Limericks

 1

A thread has been made for haiku,

But I thought I would make something new.

Well, limericks are fun,

So I thought I'd write one!

And I'd like to hear more now from you!

That's right, folks, it's time to see how creative we can get while sticking to a specific meter and rhyme scheme! Limericks are a jolly good time in just about any language, but I've noticed that there aren't enough of them in Dovahzul. I aim to remedy this situation.

A limerick is a five-line poem with a particular meter and an AABBA rhyme scheme. Here's a Wikipedia article about them, if you need additional information.

I wrote up a limerick in Dovahzul below. It's not quite funny, but it's a start. Let's explore this medium together, dii zeymahhe!  Try to come up with your own limericks in Dovahzul and post them here!

Without further ado, here's a surprisingly somber limerick about a king:

Daar los aan kruziik teysejun

Wo piraak zok mulaag med strun

Rok spaan ok junaar

Nuz siiv bein krasaar

Drey dir, nuz mu dahmaan ok dun

New take on an old favorite! Ont hun dahmaan Ragnar faal Sahqo bo nol rorikhofkah wah Ahrolsedov' Grind vahdin, fun kahii Rek vey kopraan nol klovii, Zu'u ni fen vobein pah do daar sos!

The ending was somehow an improvement over the original. That was great! I felt like there was a somewhat questionable meter for the second line, however. Still not entirely sure if dahmaan keeps the same meaning as the original, but I suppose it works. I personally would have used "Daar ont lost hun, Ragnar faal Sahqo," but I'm not confident that really fits the meter.

Anyway, overanalysis finished. Here's another silly one for ya, with meticulous attention to meter, and an abundance of internal rhymes because I love tongue twisters.

Daar lost aan brit vahdin
