I'm not sure if this is a finished product yet or not, but I translated the entirety of "House of the Rising Sun" into canon Dovahzul, while retaining the original rhyme scheme and some semblance of the original meter. It's far from perfect, and I took a few creative liberties with it, but I'm fairly pleased with how this turned out. Might even end up recording it some day, since the original song is one of my favorites to sing anyway.

I altered the lyrics fairly significantly to make it easier to translate, and to make it feel more in line with the Elder Scrolls universe. I used a couple of postnominal adjectives too, both because I wanted to keep the rhyme scheme and because I think they're fun.

This was a fun exercise, and I hope to do more with it in the future!

Hofkah do Aloktaas Krein

Los aan hofkah ko Bromjunaar
Los fin Aloktaas Krein
Ahrk lost viik, drun vokul dez wah muz
Ahrk zu'u, vahzah, los gein

Dii monah lost aan heimiik
Zorox dii qah bonaar
Dii bormah lost sahqo kendov
Til ko Bromjunaar

Nunon zun aan kendov hind fah
Los aan zahkrii ahrk aan spaan
Ahrk fin nunon tiid rok ni yah krif
Los fod ok paal oblaan

Monahhe tinvaak wah kirre
Ni piraak aan laas zok bein
Lahney laas ko vokul ahrk tiiraaz
Ko hofkah do Aloktaas Krein

Zu’u los ney nau goltsehofkiin
Ahrk nau dii key motmahus
Zu’u fen daal maltiid wah Bromjunaar
Wah lahney ko zaamhus

Los aan hofkah ko Bromjunaar
Los fin Aloktaas Krein
Ahrk lost viik, drun vokul dez wah muz
Ahrk zu'u, vahzah, los gein

Translation:

There is a hall in Bromjunaar
It is the Rising Sun
And it is defeat, it brings evil fate to men
And I, truly, am one

My mother was a blacksmith
She created my humble armor
My father was a weak warrior
There in Bromjunaar

The only tool a warrior wishes for
Is a sword and a shield
And the only time he does not seek battle
Is when his foes end

Mothers tell to children
Do not have a life most foul
Live life in evil and sadness
In the hall of Rising Sun

I am both on ground-of-home
And on my elusive horse
I will return soon to Bromjunaar
To live in foul slavery

There is a hall in Bromjunaar
It is the Rising Sun
And it is defeat, it brings evil fate to men
And I, truly, am one
