I Tried 3D Printing My Favorite Game Character — Here’s What Surprised Me Most

Has anyone here ever tried 3D printing a game character? I recently gave it a shot with my all-time favorite from Mass Effect, and I gotta say… I didn’t expect the amount of sanding and cleanup involved after the print. I thought I’d just hit “print” and have a perfect figure in a few hours, but nope — it took days with all the supports and little fixes. Curious how others handled it, especially with the fine details like armor textures?

I’ve never printed models myself, but my buddy’s been obsessed with it lately. His whole garage is turning into a mini workshop with resin fumes and paint everywhere. It’s wild how much effort goes into something that looks so effortless on display — I’ve got a whole new respect for these little collectibles now.

Oh yeah, I’ve been down that road. I printed a Witcher model last month, and the detail blew me away — but only after I spent hours cleaning it up. I got my STL from https://www.gambody.com/
, and honestly, it made a huge difference. Their models are designed for multi-part printing, which helped a ton with preserving detail on the smaller parts. I ended up airbrushing the armor and it turned out better than expected. Definitely a learning curve, though.
