Question Board Guidelines

The Question Board is for asking and answering questions related to the Dragon Language or Skyrim in general. The following covers some basic guidelines for writing question posts and answer posts.

Asking Questions

Questions should be specific and clearly written. Below are examples of some well-written questions:

  • How do you say "goodnight"?
  • What is the difference between "Sunvaar" and "Sivaas"?
  • How do you pronounce "Dovahkiin"?
  • Where in Skyrim can I find the Word Walls for the Fire Breath Shout?

Avoid asking questions that are vague, poorly-written, or opinion-related. Examples of questions that should not be asked on the Question Board include:

  • What's everyone's favorite Elder Scrolls game?
  • Dragonborn?
  • Help me with my Math homework.
Keep in mind that the Question Board is for Q&A only. It is not a discussion platform. Consider posting in the forums if you have a topic that is more discussion-oriented.

Question Title

The "Question Title" field is for either your question as a whole or a summary of it. If you have a longer question, don't try to fit in the "Question Title" field. Instead provide a brief overview of what your question is about and provide the rest in the main post.

Category

There are three categories of questions:

  • General - questions about Skyrim or the language in general that don't fit into any other category.
  • Grammar - questions about the rules of the language.
  • Translation - questions looking for specific translations of a word, phrase, or longer text.

Answering Questions

When answering questions, be direct; address the question, provide an answer, and provide a source to either cite your answer or provide further reading. Check your answers before posting them. Don't answer a question unless you have an answer, or have a source where the asker can find one.

Don't post more than one answer per question. If you find more information, you can edit your original answer. Don't use answers as a way of responding to answers that others have made. You may address existing answers in your own post, but don't use it to carry a discussion.
