Discovery of Neoantigens

Neoantigens are newly formed antigens produced by tumor cells due to various tumor-specific alterations, such as genomic mutations, RNA splicing dysregulation, post-translational modification disturbances, and integrated viral open reading frames. With the development of next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics technology, the rapid identification and prediction of tumor-specific neoantigens becomes possible. Compared with tumor-associated antigens, highly immunogenic and tumor-specific neoantigens provide new targets for personalized immunotherapy of tumors and can be used as prospective predictors of tumor survival prognosis and response to immune checkpoint blockade index.
