What ever happened to gjol?

OK, so i think its "gjol". I recall this was once the dovahzul word for " fuck".

My question is this. What happened to it? It got deleted, but why? Usually a word isamended or replaced with another word for one reason or another, but it just vanished.

The word was "gjok". It was deleted because people used it as a noun, verb, etc... Its main purpose was an interjection for the english word of "fuck", but people (even myself) abused the word, and thus it was deleted.

To add on to what Mirkrilaar said, the word gjok was intended to be an interjection with no literal translation, but was roughly equivalent to "fuck!" as an interjection, to express anger or frustration. It ended up being deleted for a couple reasons:

  • There are canon words that are used as interjections much the same way, in particular ruth "rage"
  • As Mirkrilaar said, people used the word gjok outside of its intended purpose as an interjection, and used it very literally to mean "fuck"
  • The non-canon spelling gj was abolished
