Helping verbs / Modal Particles

This post probably SHOULD be in the grammar section, buy I thought it MIGHT be more noticeable if it was on the front page. I COULD put it there, but why would I? I don't think I want to do that.

Which verbs in Dovahzul get rid of the 'to' or the 'wah?'

Like, in English it's 'I want to eat  icecream,'

but in Norwegian it's 'Jeg vil spise iskrem' as opposed to 'Jeg vil å spise iskrem.' *å meaning 'to'

Do you think you CAN answer it?

Thanks!!!!

Thanks for your question - I MIGHT be able to answer!

The preposition wah is often cut. There are no verbs that grammatically require it, but neither is it grammatically incorrect to include it.

There is a rarely-used contraction -a that may also be used instead. This gives us three possible ways to say "I want to eat":

  • Zu'u laan wah naak.
  • Zu'u laana naak.
  • Zu'u laan naak.
