I found the runes very easy to learn once I got the pattern down. A lot of runes look similar while others look different, for example, J is like no other while Ur and O are similar. What I do is have a sheet of the runes pre-made, I look at a wall, make a dovahzul sentance, transcribe it to runes on paper. A few days later I come back to it and transcribe it. I know there is a pattern, think of a one letter rune made of three shapes and a 2 letter rune made of four, there is a tic-tac-toe grid, using long, short, and medium L's (and orientation) and dots. Just put the dots and L's in their box, for example, H is a dot in top left box, upside down medium L in top middle to center box, then a long L in the 3rd (rightmost) column. After not a lot of practise and a lot of crumpled paper, I know almost all the runes. Darned J. |
