Canon and non-canon

I just discovered this community and language etc, and went onto the memrise courses and saw there was canon and non-canon. I've read the information about it, but with personal experience will I need to learn original canon to learn non-canon? Or should I just leave canon and go with non-canon?

You will absolutely want to learn canon first. It's what is common to everyone who knows the dragon language, and forms the base of most later additions.Then you can expand to other canon levels, which are only found on this site. Some never do, but active wordsmithing requires knowledge of the whole vocabulary.
