Draugr in Miraak's temple

We all know that the draugr were cursed with undeath for serving the dragons. But why are there draugr in Miraak's temple, the one who deceived the dragons?

They could have been banished to serve him, or more likely allied themselves with Miraak when he was banished because they shared similar resentments of the Dragon Cult. You should bring this up with Veyd Sahvoz, he's an expert.

It was just something I thought was weird going through his temple. From what I've read online, the draugr became "undead" because they were feeding their life forces to the deceased Dragon Priests. But maybe you're right that they never shared the same views as the Dragon Cultists and were more loyal to Miraak. But that simply raises the question as to what exactly made them take his side, considering all he did, which was clear when you search through his temple.

Not all Nords felt the same way about Dragon Overlords. The fact that there were some bad dudes back then that wanted to make things in THEIR image is pretty believable, right?

Either that or their minds were bent by Miraak's unique ability to bend the will of others to his will. Now that I think about it, it was probably a mix of the two. Some bad Nords, some mind slaves.

Hmm. I never actually thought of it that way, and now that you mention it, there was both the shout he had, and his skill as a mage. There was also Hevnoraak who had the ability to bend the will of others through magic, which nods to simply doing it without a shout, but didn't the dragons raze Miraak's temple?

They were probably taking shelter inside where dragon's fire couldn't harm them.

The exact reason why draugr and skeletons rise isn't exactly known, more than speculated.

That is correct, Dovahkiinzahn, however the reason for them being there CAN be speculated accurately.
