You can walk through the halls whenever you want and look for an escape whenever you want. The halls aren't well lit, and you can hear people walking and lights buzzing from far away. This makes the scene feel even more sad. The layout of The Backrooms is always changing, which makes it hard to get around. You can help yourself find your way back, though, by leaving cookies or other signs along the way.

On the other hand, the backrooms game are not empty. There are animals called "Lurkers" in the rooms, and they will attack and hurt anyone who goes into their area. These "Lurkers" can look like anyone or anything, from people to strange animals. Some may move slowly and be easy to avoid, while others may move quickly and attack, causing you to hide or run away in order to stay alive.

When you're in the Backrooms, keep your head on straight. Your level of madness will be directly related to how long you stay there. This can cause hallucinations, a skewed view of reality, and even bring more evil people to the person.
